About Tony's of West Reading

Old Fashioned Hand Crafted Subs Cheesesteaks

Located at 449 Penn Ave Rear Suite, West Reading, PA 19611, Tony's of West Reading operates as a sub serving West Reading in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–8 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (610) 898-1331. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is tonysofwestreading.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 561 reviews, which is a strong result for a sub in West Reading and suggests consistent service.

West Reading is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and West Reading follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I moved here from Philly and this is the 1st cheesesteak I had in almost 2 years and let me tell you that jawn did not disappoint.....it's official and authentic....this sandwich was cheesy and I could only eat a half at a time....I got the Passyunk Prime with long hots and this is the 1st time the long hots was cooked within the sandwich.....I will DEFINITELY be going back

First time trying The cheesesteak and it definitely didn't disappoint. I always had this rule of I don't like a cheese steak plain adding other items won't make it better And this was so good I wanted to grab another one after I finished. The cheeseburger wasn't bad either idk what the other reviewer is talking about. Met Tony himself cool guy definitely will be a spot to frequent for me

I leave this review after my first visit ever to Tony's. I had heard many positive things about the place, but after my experience I will never be returning. Here's why: 1. Lack of industry standards. As I watched the crew work behind the scenes (hard not to be able to see), I saw numerous bits of evidence that there are not enough workplace standards. Especially so in the department of food handling. I quite literally watched the one girl who wraps completed orders for departure touch her hair and then proceed to resume wrapping the food all while bare-handed. I did not see anyone wear gloves to any extent except maybe for the cook operating the flat top. 2. I got a surprise in my sandwich. If we keep in mind what I had just mentioned with food handling standards, then it should come to no surprise that something was bound to happen. Of course it would happen to me. I have attached some pictures for reference. I got what I can only conclude is some piece of wax-cardboard. The kind that would be used to prepare base ingredients both raw and fresh so as to not have the paper components draw out water or allow them to oxidize through the paper materials. In my picture, notice how s

The rolls are fantastic, all the locals swear by ATV rolls, obviously I did not grow up in the area. I've never been asked hard or soft roll. Some Hoagie shops in Reading I have noticed are coming around and getting much better. Now for the steak sandwhich, growing up in the Philly/Delco area, I moved to the Lancaster area in year 1990 and then 2000. I saw a β€œsub” shop, and stopped in, I was very confused when they questioned me Hard or Soft roll. Not knowing I said soft. It was like eating a baloney Sandwhich on a hot dog roll. Since then, things have improved. Now on to Tony’s of West Reading… I kept hearing about this place on the Nextdoor App. I was at my barber shop, and they were talking about ordering lunch, someone said Tony’s. So I got into a discussion with them, and they said its right up the street. Got my haircut and off I went. It was about 2 mins away from the barbershop I've been going to for 25 years. Its just a little dive shop (which I always find to be the best), they have a few tables. A rack with chips and a cooler with soda. This is what I grew up on. Now the strange (to me part), they have different cuts of meat, ranging in different prices.

I was with my father passing through Reading and found this place. I read all of the good reviews and funny responses from the owner and had to give it a shot. The cheese steaks definitely didn't disappoint they were very delicious! My father ordered the Tony's original and I had one of their special spicy jalapeno cheese steaks of the day not on the menu. Would definitely go here again when I'm in the area! French fries were bangin also! Crunchy not too salty.
